It's a shame that he's constantly given such a dark and serious, calm tone. I have yet to see an illustration where you really get to know the sarcastic, sneering, diabolical, dangerous, deeply frightening, brutal, twisted and very powerful Melkor. And so far I haven't found an adaptation where it is shown really faithfully, even though it is described very precisely (albeit in different writings, independent of each other). Not only can you find features of his appearance in the Silmarillion, but in fact “The History of Middle-earth” is also a treasure trove (even if you have to be very vigilant) when it comes to the descriptions of many of them. For example, I also learned that Osse, Ulmo's vassal, had a green beard (disheveled from exhaustion), that his eyes could actually become cloudy (not unlike humans), and that he had a staff that he sometimes leaned on, but countless such things can be found in these books (such as that Glorfindel, like Ingwe, actually had golden locks and not straight hair; or that the Noldor in older versions had dark locks). Furthermore, Melkor was anything but beautiful, with his terrible, evil, diabolical, scarred and burned face and his split lip.
