I think it's supposed to mean the creases you get from certain expressions. Like with a big smile look in the mirror and you'll see a crease from the mouth corners to the nose.
Drawing that in there (especially if it pushes up the bottoms of the eyes) really makes a smile seem bigger and more genuine, rather than something generically cute. Little details like that can make or break certain expressions.
This is amazing. All of your pointers are things that I felt that I knew of but couldn't execute because I'd focus on the general look of the face. Your emphasis on these details definitely point developing artists in the right direction. (I also love your style of art!)
I think it means that different shaped chins can indicate different perceived temperaments in characters. Like the highly angled chin is typically associated with evil characters (Jefar is one that comes to mind), and that "chin" that is almost non-existent, I would associate with a character that is either heavily computer savvy, or extremely lazy. Same goes with the pairing of the right set of lips.
Ooh, of course! I feel rather daft now. xD I've known this all along, just never really thought about it. Guess that's when you get to the certain point in character making, becoming aware of differences and likeness of your own work.
