Man- I really like your work and it is a funny comic and I understand it is an exaggeration but in NO WAY is this even remotely accurate. When FDR was alive Truman had ZERO knowledge of any of the war plans. When FDR died- there wasn't a question on whether the US would use the bombs on Japan... just a question of when and where. If FDR had been alive- HE WOULD HAVE USED THE BOMB. Truman did some great things as president- instituting the Marshall Plan, introducing the first Civil Rights laws (desegragating the armed forces for one). Truman was not a creep, he wasn't blood thirsty... He did what needed to be done to get Japan to surrender. He did what FDR would have done. Truman was a good president... a liberal president who was faced with a lot of flack from Republican opponents (remind you of anyone?) He even tried to introduced universal health care in 1945. This comic does a disservice to him.
LOL.... although, i do dislike everyone ragging on Truman. He was actually an ok, president. not the best but deffinately not bad. and he made the best choice for the time and knowledge. people look down on Truman because of the lasting effects of the bomb, which were unknown at the time, and no one ever gives him credit for saving MILLIONS of American, as well as Japanese, lives.
agreed, or even an invasion of Japan. That would mean probably a significant loss of Japanese as well as american GI's. it wasnt a difficult decision, because Truman was looking at the estimated losses, 2-300,000 killed by the 2 A-bombs, or 3-4 million dead on both sides with an invasion.
